EPA Carbon Rules Rollout: "If We Snooze, We Lose"

Below are valuable resources provided by Dr. Lora Chamberlain, Organizer for Frack Free Illinois.

She says: "Many shifts in our energy mix in IL are happening quite quickly. The roll out of the EPA carbon rules is in fact occurring rapidly, if we snooze we loose. It is good for all enviros in IL to get involved to the extent that they can - whether or not we achieve our renewable energy renaissance is being determined right now by policy decisions on many levels."

Stay tuned for updates on organizing meetings.

Resources about the EPA's draft Clean Power Plan and its implementation:

Below is a link to the audio and slides shown at a meeting at the Illinois Commerce Commission, ICC, on Monday, Aug 18th. The corporate stakeholders in IL were in attendance, and some of the issues with the EPA carbon rules were discussed. There will be 2 additional all day meetings at the ICC on Sept. 23rd and Oct 30th, they are well worth attending to learn how the power brokers are lining up on different aspects of these EPA rules.

Sept 24 in Chicago: Campaign Nonviolence - "Connecting the Dots" Between War, Poverty, and the Climate Crisis

Campaign Nonviolence has an event planned for September 24 in Chicago, as part of a week of actions nationwide.

The September 24 event invites us to " connect the dots between violence/war…poverty/economic injustice…climate change as well as envisioning nonviolent alternative to build a culture of peace."

Have you thought about how the damage we are doing
to the climate results from our reliance on violent behavior?

What can we do to change this?

The September 24 event takes place between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. - meet near Old St. Pat’s, 700 W. Adams Chicago, IL 60602.
